Starting a Magazine Subscription

I was looking at my new subscription to "Classic Toy Trains" magazine and
was pleasantly surprised at the amount of information and data available.

When you subscribe to a model train magazine as I have, you start to get a
sense of interest and belonging, and that there is a place to obtain help
when constructing your model railroad layout.  It has been a very long time
since I really did anything with model railroading.  Having my web site up
as a viable business has brought back to me a love for the model
railroading hobby as I have never had before.

As a magazine subscriber you too can also obtain additional information by
logging onto the magazine web site.

Through the magazine's web site you are able to keep up with the latest
trends in the model railroading world.  You can get current reviews on the
latest engines, cars, both rolling stock and passenger cars, layouts and
other accessories. You can read how others view the different pieces and
items that are available.  This way you are able to make a more meaningful
decision on what you think you want to add to your own layout and existing
train sets.  With a magazine subscription you will be able to get some
history on the different engines, rolling stock, as well as the history on
the layouts that have been built.  Techniques and instructions are available
on cleaning an engine and how to lay down ballast over a track, etc.

In the magazine's web site you are able to get free layout diagrams from
time to time.  These are valuable when setting up a new layout, or just
wanting to add to an existing one. You can make strategic changes to the
layout, both mechanically and visually from these diagrams.  A neat thing
about the layouts is that they are to scale of actual railways. If you are
interested in a certain area or locality, you may be able to find the layout
of that area.

For instance on the Classic Toy Trains web site you can vote on a couple of
different model train layouts.  This is their 20th anniversary and they are
featuring 10 of their favorite layouts.  Because it is getting close to
December they are also featuring a multi layer Christmas tree layout.  You
will find instructions on how to build, wire and operate your layout.  Along
with existing layout subscribers, you are able to find new ways to enhance
your existing layout using new structures, scenery and details from a forums
page.

You are also able to read about the different aspects of the model
railroading experience that you may have encountered and may want additional
information on.  The Classic Toy Train magazine gives you information about
the different gauges and how you can setup a layout. They provide
information about the different toy train manufactures from whom you are
able to purchase your model railroading items.

You can read tips on creating a layout, maintaining locomotives and cars as
well as tips on what is the most popular item at the most popular place.
You will be able to find history on some of the cars and locomotives, also
where and why the model railroading industry chose to manufacture them, as
well as when they were first manufactured.  I like the times that the cars
have been compared from the first time that the item might have been
manufactured to the present day.  My favorite example of this is the Lionel's
scale F3 Diesel comparison of the over 20 years of being part of the Lionel
collection.  The one on 'The Mighty little Ore Car' is exceptional as well.

The internet has made reading your magazine very enjoyable.  I am basing
this on my personal experience with my subscription.  Other train magazines
will have similar features and benefits.  I am able to access newsletters,
CTT subject index and other features.  I can get news on new toy trains,
videos, hobby news and reviews.  I am also able to access menu items on
different layouts from which I can create my own layout.  I can obtain
information on collectible toy trains, restoring and repairing them, as
well, there is a question and answer of the week forum to get my questions
answered.  They also have a forum to communicate with other train
enthusiasts from around the globe.

Another great thing is there are so many different ads in the magazine you
can make some very important price comparisons on the next important item(s)
for your layout and collection.  There are many pages in these magazines
that give you ample opportunity to make a good decision on what will be the
next best item(s) for your layout.

These magazines will provide you with the most up to date information on the
different set pieces, track layout pieces, many optional additional
locomotives, rolling stock and layout items that are available for you to
choose from.

I have just taken my experience with my train magazine and related the benefits I have found, showing that having a magazine subscription can be of
a benefit to you the reader.

The subscription to any model train magazine will give you many hours of enjoyment and interest.  The added help and pleasure you receive from
different tips on designing, caring for the products, and new ideas to
incorporate into your layout and collection will be invaluable.
