Model Railroading attraction

Going to a model railroading layout whether it is a private one or a club is very exciting for anyone. This past summer we were in the Okanogan are of British Columbia Canada and were able to see the extraordinary of model railroading layout of the Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad. It is family owned and run by Poul and Ulla Pedersen.

The layout is set in Europe with different attractions from winter and ski hills to summer and theme parks and zoos. There are a number of different types of trains from passenger to freight and army. The layout is set up to run mostly in a day setting. With computerized management the days soon turns to night and then back to day. The layout consists of about 2 km of track winding through valleys, mountains, towns and villages. The Virginian Railway Project by Model Railroader Magazine

It is always find to start the new year with a new project. That is what Model Railroader is going they are going to be constructing a replica of the Virginian Railway throughout the first quarter of the year. They already have created two videos for their website. The first is an overview of the whole project, showing where to begin to get great ideas for the project as well as detailed information about the railway itself. Books and the internet are where the information is to be able to create the railroad layout you are looking for. Also being able to go to people who know about the railroad that you want to model are also a great place to get that needed information. They then take a helicopter view ride of the layout to show you how it all looks when it is finished. The first video is nicely done as usual with great information.

The second video show you how to make the layout legs very easily. David Popp shows how easy it is to get started, and the importance of have the right tools, lumber etc. He points out the benefits for have good lumber to start as opposed to second great lumber and what can happen if you get second grade products. Well not a lot happens with the second video but the legs are now built for the layout and the Virginian Railway project is on the way.

I know I am looking forward to the rest of the videos and the project detail in the up coming Model Railroader magazine. Hope you will also enjoy the project details and information that is coming.

Web site Transition

We have been working hard here at Live Locomotion to upgrade and improve our
web site to help customers find what they are looking for. First we have gone to two
scales that we feel are the most popular. These scales are HO and N. We will be dealing
many in Atlas and Bachman trains. We want to our customers comfortable with the new format
and be able to find what they are looking for easily.

Bare with us as we go through this transition. We will have it completed as quickly as possible.
We want our customer satisfaction to be at it best. We also want our customers to know that they
are being looked after all the time.

Weekly Specials Started Again

It is the middle of January and we are starting our weekly special again. This week it is the Master GP40-2 ST Lawrence & Atlantic 3804. Which Model Railroading Scale Do You Perfer

Here is a question that I posted on my facebook fan page.

"I was wandering two things. one, what is the most popular model railroading scale these days? Two, why is it the most popular model rail roading scale?" I gave the two main options of HO Scale and N Scale. I also gave the reader the option of adding in another modelling scale.

I have gone with the N Scale as it is great to use in small areas and most of us now live in much small areas than our parent did. Mind you I have also found that the N Scale details are sometimes very hard to see. I have a CNR steam engine and tender which I am unable to see the detailed writing on. This I do not like but am unable to do anything about.

I know that HO Scale is much easier to work with and a lot of the older generation like this scale for that reason. Maybe even the younger generation will also at some point in time move to HO from N Scale when they also find it not handy to work with also.

Anyway your thoughts about the questions and comments are always welcome. Til next time have fun with your modelling adventures.
